The California Public Utilities Commission plans to eliminate a key component to standby charges as included in a recent proposed decision.
The proposal plans to suspend the capacity reservation charge.
Standby charges are rates that the utility is able to charge customers with self-generation in order to recoup costs for providing electricity when the self-generation is not producing.
